I chose to do my project on the Cosplay community to break the stereotype that people who chose to part take in Cosplay are weird or geeky. It fascinates me that people spend so much time, money, and energy on designing costumes to take on the role of a character that they feel passionate about or connected to. I am personally interested in this community since my cousin is super involved in cosplay and I want to fully understand why she is so passionate about it. I want my audience to understand to their best ability cosplay and the community that surrounds it. I have analyzed the different genres in which cosplayers communicate both in character and out of character as well as identified why they chose to participate in such a unique community.
